About us

Shangri La!, Prestwich’s premier alternative cabaret show, has been bringing joy, love, talent and culture to the good people of North Manchester since 2007.

It’s not for profit, as we think it’s important that we pay all our talented acts, and serves up a monthly smorgasboard of music, short theatre, spoken word, poetry, film, dance, standup, Europe’s most rubbish raffle AND a dirty disco at the end.

Only a tenner in for 4 acts and the best night out ever.  VALUE.

We’re always on the look out for interesting acts to appear, so get in touch if that’s you or someone you know.

Gary Morris

GaryMorris Co-founder of the character-cabaret team 'Slaughterhouse Live', Gary Morris has been performing character comedy for over 20 years with creations such as children's author Beryl Haines, War Poet 2nd Lieutenant Walter Melons and PowerPoint-crazed lifestyle guru Dave Media. Described by The List as "pulsating with enough anarchic energy to power a small European principality."

Chris Tavener

ChrisTavener Jangly-guitar rock and a biting sense of humour meet in the storytelling songs of Chris Tavener. A theatrical musician with an acerbic wit, Tavener writes his lyrics from the perspective of flawed characters that he draws from 21st century life. His cynical social commentary, dressed in punchy guitar-driven rock and acoustic ballads has won him acclaim from BBC 6 Music and multiple BBC Introducing stations.

Klosh

Klosh Genre-bending outliers, Klosh occupy a space somewhere between avant-garde, pop and electronic dance music. Their twisted beats, wonky synths and feminist lyrics combine to move body and mind in surprising and visceral ways. If Tuneyards & Self Esteem had a baby, it might sound a bit like this!

Brandon Lee Webb

BrandonLeeWebb British songsmith Brandon Lee Webb will be joined by Dan Brownrigg on guitars and Michael Holcroft on percussion. Their blend of electric/acoustic blues rock is a little more Kelly Joe Phelps than it is Mississippi John Hurt, throw in a touch of John Martyn and a dab of The Doors and you’re getting close. Expect passionate, powerful vocals, soaring slide lines and smooth melodic bass. www.brandonleewebb.co.uk for more.

Stephen Ellis We welcome back the poignant, beautiful yet oh so angry songwriting talent that is Stephen Ellis with a new collection of tracks from his recent EP covering love lost, demons gained and a highly apt-for-our times ‘song about the end of the world’. It’s melody for the masses, folks, and we love him. […]
